Operation |
Performed typically in less than two hours as an outpatient surgery in our surgical facility in Hinsdale. A local anesthetic with intravenous sedation by our certified anesthetist is used. A soft cotton dressing will cover your incision and continued pain mediation may alleviate discomfort. |
Scarring |
Scars are placed behind the hairline where they are inconspicuous and easily hidden. They will be red or pigmented for one to two months but fade until they are unnoticeable four to six months following surgery. Although scars are permanent, their height and width are not totally predictable. |
Recovery |
Expect treated areas may feel swollen, bruised and possibly distorted. Bruising may last two to three weeks following surgery and other areas such as the eyes and cheeks might feel swollen. Doctor visits will begin in one to three days, then one month and four months after surgery to monitor care and progress. The sutures will be removed after seven to ten days. In some circumstances, the scalp behind the incision will be temporarily numb. |
Healing Time |
Typically five to seven days. Light exercise can begin two to three weeks. Vigorous sports should not be done for the first four to six weeks |
Time to return to public eye |
Typically 10-14 days after surgery with makeup. Sunscreen should be worn to protect healing skin. |
Actual Results |
Typically three to six months after surgery a smoother eye contour and forehead area give a youthful and relaxed appearance. |
